Not So New News!

Just found out that my friend Jeremy and I made it into the New School newspaper last May, after being asked what our plans were for the summer! It’s amusing to compare a prior perception of a future level of achievement to an ex post facto critique on the same success state. The “graphic novel” didn’t get written/illustrated, but I’d say that it’s underway. Additionally, it’s looking more and more likely that the Brain Cap will be the primary inspiration for my upcoming thesis. Though, I didn’t do everything I wanted to this summer, I had many unexpected successes. I think that it’s important to to have a plan, but just as important to be willing to deviate from it.

[SHARED] Post-Planetary Design (Class Blog)

I’m not sure why I haven’t shared the below link yet. It’s skipped my mind for long enough. The site is centered around one of my favorite Parsons D+T courses to date, Post-Planetary Design (yes, I stole the name for one of my blog’s categories).  The course, taught by the great thinker Ed Keller, is a fantastic combination of Philosophy, Technology, Sci-Fi, Religion, Film, Literature, and much more. If you are interested in any of those topics, I urge you pay it a visit. My personal contribution to the class was an exploration on the ethics of brain-computer interfacing.

Much of the discussion and course content from Post-Planetary Design is inspiring one of my current ventures, a sci-fi graphic novel about the future of mankind that explores the question of what it means to be human.  More on that to come!
